Zombie Run

Every October, the zombies rise in Driskell Park — and they run for the schools. The 11th annual Hyattsville Zombie Run shambles off Saturday, October 17, 2026, and the Wildcats will be there in force.

What it is

A fun, family-friendly morning of racing in costume (or not), organized by the volunteers of the Hyattsville Elementary School PTA. Every registration and donation buys art supplies, instruments, teacher appreciation, and classroom supplies for our neighborhood schools. One morning, three races, all ages — from serious runners to very small zombies.

8:45 am — 1K Family Fun Run
For your youngest zombies. Strollers welcome.
9:05 am — 1 Mile Kids Run
A great first distance.
9:30 am — 5K Run/Walk
USATF certified, for the serious undead.

Where our PTO comes in

The Zombie Run is a Hyattsville Elementary PTA production, and this year César Chávez Elementary is an official charity of the race. Register through the button above and our school is tagged automatically — part of your fee comes right back to the Wildcats — or skip the running entirely and donate to César Chávez straight from the race page. Either way we show up: our families run and shamble in every race, our volunteers help along the course, and every bib number helps our school. Come for the costumes, stay for the community — and look for the crowd of purple Wildcats.

Dress for the apocalypse

Our zombie wildcat comes in two official forms — a tee and a three-quarter-sleeve raglan. Every sale supports César Chávez DSI, and nothing says school spirit like a lovingly disheveled mascot.
